To the Hanseatic city Rostock located on the Warnow river it is only a short drive. The old town boasts mighty gothic churches, town wall and medieval monastery, an imposing town hall and the oldest university in Northern Europe founded in 1419.

Because of the low current and good sailing conditions, Warnemunde is one of the best sailing grounds in Germany. The wonderful and large beach is especially good for kitesurfing, windsurfing, underwater diving, swimming and nordic walking. In the summertime there are a lot of international competitions.
